Here at Advanced Endodontics of Westchester, we recognize that surgery is valuable in many forms. While it is at times necessary, incision surgery often comes with its own set of complications and risks that can be uncomfortable and painful. In our effort to offer our patients the benefits that come from laser endodontics, we celebrate National Without a Scalpel Day on January 16th with minimally-invasive treatment options that utilize the technology of lasers.

WaterLase Treatment in Endodontics

We use the WaterLase laser in order to treat a handful of endodontic conditions. With the use of the WaterLase technology, over 99% of bacteria is killed after a root canal treatment. We use laser technology for the following procedures:

  • Preparation for root canal
  • Debridement and cleaning of a root canal
  • Apicoectomy
  • Removal of neoplasm, abscess or cysts
  • Post-endodontic treatment disinfection of root canal

During the WaterLase process, water and laser technology are used to cut through both hard and soft tissue. This eliminates the need for stitches, sutures or any incision sites during treatment. Without the need for an incision, there is no risks of scarring, and recovery time is faster.

Utilizing WaterLase technology allows us to treat infected root canals when traditional treatment requires that the tooth is extracted once it is infected. We are able to access the bacteria that has worked its way deep into the structure of the tooth and kill it before any additional harm is done to the area.
